Avionics Systems develops and manufactures qualified electronics, mechanics and software for demanding applications in aircraft and helicopters. Many of these products are developed in collaboration with other parts of Saab or external partners. Most of our projects are carried out in an international environment and we supply products for two of the world's largest aircraft manufacturers, Airbus and Boeing.
What you will be part of
The Business Development and Strategy (BD&S) department is responsible for business development with focus on long term profitable growth, and for managing the strategic planning. Avionics Systems needs to reinforce and enhance the BD&S department in order to meet increasing demand and future strategy. From January 1st 2015 Avionics Systems will be part of new business area Industrial Products and Services. The new business area will have a stronger business-to-business focus and develop individual growth strategies for each of its component units. Industrial Products and Services will also contain business unit Aerostructures, consultancy company Combitech, and the Saab Ventures portfolio.
Your future challenge
As Business Development Executive your main task will be to execute strategic product management, in collaboration with Marketing & Sales select and exploit market niches and business opportunities where Avionics Systems can be a successful player, and support implementation of existing product plans and roadmaps e.g. through strategic partnerships and collaboration with other Saab Business areas. BD&S strategic product management contains product ownership in the early phases of the product life-cycle, and as Business Development Executive you will be responsible for selected products in these early phases and for the execution of associated tasks. You will also through delegation execute major parts of product ownership for selected top level product families and in general support the preparation as well as review of Avionics Systems all other product plans. The execution of product management is performed as per guideline and coordination from portfolio management. To perform the task you will collaborate with the departments Marketing & Sales and Portfolio, Business Development & Strategy, the Product Areas - including Avionics South Africa - and Common Engineering. You will also cooperate with other Saab business areas. You will report to the Head of Business Development and Strategy. We are looking for a person with strong informal leadership skills and the ability to engage other people across the organization. You have a strategic, holistic and business minded approach; you are structured and analytic and have good communication skills. You have a performance driven mindset.
Today's demands
We are looking for a profile in the commercial/civil aerospace domain knowledge comprising: * Operational knowledge and how the various segments use their aircraft * Operational regulatory environment * Airworthiness knowledge and the rules for certifying an aircraft * General knowledge of the systems in an aircraft * General knowledge of airspace use and operators * Integration & architecture, constraints, serviceability * Cockpit philosophy, MMI/HMI, pilot workload General requirements * Appropriate professional or postgraduate qualification in a business oriented or technical discipline. * Strong business understanding and customer focus. * Understanding and ability to work in an international environment and matrix organisation. * Proven ability to take decisions to improve profitability. * Skills to combine strategic thinking with operational actions. * Proven ability and interest in leading, developing and challenging the organization, management teams and employees. * Strong drive, perseverance and ability to generate energy
