Biometrics & Information Sciences (B&I) drives good design to generate the data needed for quality decision making. The goal of B&I is to deliver value to the pipeline by excellence in delivery, improving decision making, and engaging and shaping the external environment whilst accessing and implementing innovative solutions.
Statistics is the group that oversees and delivers all the statistical and programming contribution to programme/study design, decision-making, statistical interpretations and communications internally and externally for the TA portfolio of projects and is engaged in shaping the TA external environment. This position can be based in Gothenburg SE or Gaithersburg, US.
The role
• To lead, manage and develop a group of statisticians
• To lead the strategic and operational planning of the B&I contributions to the Clinical Development Plans, Regulatory Strategy and Submissions, Health Technology Assessment and Commercial support of AstraZeneca products
• Leadership of B&I staff working with the product world-wide so that all work is carried out in line with AstraZeneca standards and external regulations.
• Represents AstraZeneca and Statistics to Health Authorities and Reimbursement/Payer Organizations for specific projects/indications.
• Investigate and implement statistical approaches, for relevant statistical issues and/or regulatory guidance and/or value demonstration.
• Maintains understanding and awareness on new statistical methodologies, Therapy Area and Development initiatives.
• Provides leadership and direction to improvement projects/activities/initiatives and drives the implementation of best practice across the group.
• Develops contacts with international opinion leaders, consultants and collaborative groups.
• Ensures drug projects are successfully delivered in terms of scientific leadership and resourcing.
Minimum experience
• MSc/PhD in Statistics or Mathematics (containing a substantial statistical component) with experience in pharmaceutical/healthcare or other relevant area.
• In depth knowledge of the technical and regulatory requirements related to the role
• Extensive experience of Development, programme design and data analysis and statistical interpretation.
• Experience of regulatory interactions and/or submissions.
• Managerial experience.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to build strong relationships.
