The University has around 46 000 students and more than 8 000 staff based in Lund, Helsingborg and Malmö. We are united in our efforts to understand, explain and improve our world and the human condition.

Lund University welcomes applicants with diverse backgrounds and experiences. We regard gender equality and diversity as a strength and an asset.

Your team
NanoMAX is currently the only hard x-ray nanoprobe beamline at MAX IV.

It is primarily designed for imaging and scattering experiments that require a focused coherent beam to achieve ultimate resolution, such as ptychography and coherent diffraction imaging. Secondly, the nanofocused beam also provides prime spatial resolution to scanning diffraction and fluorescence mapping experiments.

Your role
We are now looking for a researcher with a strong background in diffraction-based x-ray techniques to join the NanoMAX team, and together ensure optimal operation of the beamline and its two end-stations 'Diffraction' and 'Imaging' for users and own experiments. You will take an active role in the further development of the beamline and its instruments, especially the Diffraction station, as well as driving your own projects within science and/or coherent diffraction method development.

Main work tasks

- You will actively help maintain and develop the beamline, the end-stations and data processing tools, as part of the NanoMAX team, with a primary focus on the Diffraction station
- You will support users during the planning, setup, and execution of experiments, and be available to participate in the development of eg. user sample environments or analysis code for nanoprobe experiments
- As a scientist, you are expected to take a leading role within a scientific research area or novel nanoprobe method(s) relevant to the Diffraction station, and promote this program within the (prospective) user community and at conferences

To be successful in this role you need to have the following qualifications

- PhD in natural sciences in a subject relevant to NanoMAX
- Demonstrated knowledge of diffraction-based techniques and experience with the use of scanning or coherent diffraction imaging approaches
- Good Python programming skills, working knowledge of collaborative software development tools, and considerable experience with the implementation of data acquisition or analysis algorithms
- You have a good track record of published articles in peer reviewed journals highlighting findings from your research and experimental activities
- Demonstrated ability to work independently
- Good command of English, good communication and team working skills

Qualifications below are seen as merits

- Experience in instrumentation development, particularly including timing, electrochemistry, nano-positioning and/or scanning
- Experience in x-ray fluorescence mapping and/or x-ray tomography

As a person you are interested in interdisciplinary and collaborative research and able to work effectively with research groups of very diverse backgrounds as well as engineers and technicians.
