Scania is now undergoing a transformation from being a supplier of trucks, buses and engines to a supplier of complete and sustainable transport solutions. At Powertrain Component Control we are looking at expanding our team of software developers to meet the future challenges in the automotive industry. The team plays a central part in developing and integrating functionality for both conventional and electric powertrains for our partner brands within the Traton group.
We are looking for an automotive software developer who will take on the challenge together with us. As a member of our team you will experience fun and helpful colleagues and a management with a servant leadership focus making sure you have what you need to help us drive the shift.

Your Profile
We believe that you are customer-oriented with a can-do attitude and have a MSc within mechatronics, physics, computer science or equivalent. You are a software developer with experience in embedded systems, skilled in automotive C and MATLAB/Simulink. Experience with Functional Safety (ISO26262) and Cybersecurity (UNECE R155), would be welcome and meriting.
You prefer to work in a team, sharing responsibility, offering and accepting help when needed. We believe in strong teams and put pride in succeeding together. You are fluent in both written and spoken English, Swedish is meriting. Driver's license (B) and license for commercial vehicles are significant merits, as is any experience from the automotive industry.
At Scania, we are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive, and authentic workplace, so if you're excited about this role but your experience doesn't align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles! We hire for attitude and train for skills.

Your Role
As a development engineer your main tasks will be to work in a smaller team to develop and adapt features in the software according to the needs of our external customers.
These needs may be communicated in the form of unique customer requirements that can be planned in good time but sometimes communicated through feedback from customer testing. This means that you must be able to deduce the customer needs from test drive feedbacks and to conclude the best solution together with the customer engineers. Often, situations are unexpected, time-critical and varied, so you must be flexible and be able to adapt to the given situation.
Once a need is identified and specified, a solution will be implemented and then iterated in several steps until it is a finalized function. The first iteration stages means optimizing towards a SIL or HIL environment, then you move on to vehicle testing on a test track. Finally, you need to analyse the data and handle feedback from the customer.

The Team
At the moment, our group consists of 14 developers of which one is stationed at Navistar in the USA. The group is divided into three smaller teams in which the engineers work closely together to adapt the Scania powertrains to the needs of external OEM customers. The team takes responsibility for a wide part of the delivery chain. This means understanding the customer situation, planning the project and implementing adaptions of existing features as well as development for customer specific demands. Following up quality issues from the field and make sure that the software is delivered in time to the customer is also part of the work. All work is done in close collaboration with engineers from the customer side.

Our Offer
We offer a great opportunity to work with powertrain controls towards our partner brands in different parts of the world in an interesting and challenging environment. You will work on the forefront with future powertrain products in the transportation industry developing your skills and advance you as an engineer.
We can offer you a dynamic workplace with diverse and challenging tasks in a hybrid work setup, meaning you can work from home a few days a week if the job allows. We can also provide you with an individual development plan that you create together with your manager, so you can reach your goals and receive the right support along the way.
In addition to career and development opportunities, as an employee at Scania, we can offer you other benefits such as free training at Scania's health center Gröndal or wellness allowance, performance bonuses, occupational pension, flexible working hours, lunch at a reduced price, the opportunity for a staff car and much more.
Scania also organizes several events throughout the year where family and friends are always welcome, which is usually highly appreciated by everyone. If you live in Stockholm, we also offer a direct bus service between Stockholm and Södertälje with Scania Jobexpress.
