The department of informatics belongs to the faculty of technology and is one of 10 departments at the faculty. The faculty gathers Linnaeus University's education and research in technical subjects; for instance, informatics, computer science, physics, mathematics, nautical science, structural engineering and mechanical engineering. The department of informatics has 30 members of staff, of which four are professors and three are associate professors. There are six doctoral students who are active within the third-cycle education. The department also has two international post-docs. Activities are carried out at three campuses: Kalmar, Växjö and Ljungby.

At the department of informatics, research is carried out within a number of research fields and with different focus that overlap: digital business models, information management, design of interactive artefacts and services, e-learning, e-health, and evaluation. Most of the research is carried out according to the faculty research strategy. Educational programmes offered by the department of informatics includes six degree programmes at first- and second-cycle levels. Several of the courses and programmes are offered on distance, both nationally and internationally. The department also offers single-subject courses sometimes in collaboration with other faculties.

The department has developed a relatively large network with companies, partly through collaboration with Centre for Information Logistics (CIL) and partly through the student placement projects that are part of all our first-cycle programmes. The department also has a large international commitment through, for instance, its distance educations and through contacts and collaborations within research.

Associate senior lecturer - is an appointment which through research and pedagogical qualifying gives the opportunity to be promoted to permanent position as senior lecturer. The appointment is in total three years with annual evaluation. Placement in Växjö

Job description:
This position will be part of the research group at LNU Informatics that focus on a systemic and strategic approach for information management that is required in connection with emerging technologies. It is particularly related to the faculty strategic areas information management with big data as a core area, technology enhanced education and digital learning.

Tasks include research, teaching and supervision in Swedish at first-cycle level and in English at second-cycle level, as well as course development and course administration. Supervision and teaching at third-cycle level may also be included in the appointment if the adequate academic competence has been reached.

The applicant will be expected to work within the field of Information management from the perspective of developing organizations' digital capability. Of specific interest is:
• digital technology didactics
• database management
• system thinking methodologies
• ethnographic approach
• project management

Research tasks include participation and development of projects in technology enhanced education, supervision, participation and management of funding applications, active participation in research seminars, and dissemination of research results. Of particular importance is research related to distance education within this area.
