Main Duties and Responsibilities

As Associate Director you will lead, develop and manage the Occupational Health, Safety and Environment (SHE) for AZ in Gothenburg, providing clear direction to a team of specialist industry professionals. You will manage the business risk profile through an understanding of complex and diverse legal and regulatory demands and apply cross functional business understanding to deliver innovative and cost-effective solutions that meet the internal and external needs.

A part of your specific responsibilities will be to lead and develop a group of specialists, providing strategic advice and support on legal accountabilities to the AZ business. You will be responsible for ensuring the protection and promotion of the safety & health/wellbeing of employees, customers, the environment and the local community.

You are expected to drive improvement in business performance through the development and interpretation of appropriate performance indicators. You will continuously review developments in the SHE field and allied legislation, and interpret these into the business context of threat and opportunity risk management to assess the implication on the business risk profile.

As Associate Director, you will act as a leader in LEAN and embed a culture of continuous improvement and lean thinking throughout the whole organization that supports the business functions and our internal culture of continuous improvement. You will provide your specialist input globally in given topics of expertise.

Together with the FM Leadership Team you will set the direction for Safety Health & Environment as well as the Facility Management at AstraZeneca in Gothenburg. The Associate Director is responsible across all SET functions and at all levels within each function and as such is highly subject to privacy, individual and cultural sensitivity.

This role is based in Gothenburg and is a 12 month fixed term position where you have the opportunity to make a great impact from the start.



Essential Requirements

This position requires a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of all aspects of safety, health and environment within the industry. You are a natural leader and possess the ability to establish, develop and maintain great working relationships. Stakeholder management is one of your key assets, as well as recognising customer needs at all levels. Furthermore, you are an excellent communicator with a natural talent for analysing and providing complex information.

* University degree and at least five years' experience in Safety, Health or environment at leadership/management level.
* Wide knowledge of relevant theories, practices and interrelationships in areas of SHE and allied business functions.
* Strong record of successful problem-solving skills and a proven track record in management of a multi-discipline team.
