Description of Role and Requirements
The Assistant Principal (AP) works side-by-side with the Principal to help with the overall running of the school. The AP helps coordinate all aspects of the school?s activities and is always willing and able to take on any tasks that are necessary for the smooth running of the school. The AP is responsible for leading and developing various individuals and groups on a daily basis and must therefore have a genuine interest and ability with people. This ability will be essential in developing good cooperation with the local authorities such as the municipality, police and fire services and the social services. In order to be able to develop these relationships both inside and outside of the school the AP will need good communication skills in both English and Swedish.
The role is clearly a highly varied one however the primary emphasis is on the safety, security and behavioural/social development of the school?s students. As this is a very specialised skill we value previous experience from an appropriate position in the field of educating/leading young people.
In addition to being a competent leader and manager you also need to be a flexible team player; keen to cooperate with others and tackle difficult situations with little warning. A sense of humour and willingness to go the extra mile for staff and students is essential. As Assistant Principal you will be expected to work with the school?s most challenging issues and provide guidance to students regarding personal, behavioural or vocational issues, along with ensuring that attendance and behaviour policies are followed.
