Analysis engineer for SRS and Driver assist

The group Low Speed Manoeuvring and SRS, Analysis and Verification is a part of Volvo Cars Active Safety department, which drives the development of the Volvo core value - Safety. We are responsible for analysis and verification of a multiple of vehicle safety and driver support systems. These systems include Automatic parking and parking assistance systems, BLIS (blind spot information system) and SRS (Supplemental Restraint System). Hardware in the loop, simulations and in-vehicle verification are tools that we use to assure high performance and reliability of these systems. Verification process is moving more and more towards simulations and virtual methods and our daily work will be in close collaboration with the departments such as the Active Safety CAE group as well as a variety of construction and development teams and external suppliers.

As Analysis Engineer for SRS and Driver Assistance you will be responsible for setting up simulation environments for a variety of Active Safety and Driver Support systems. Hardware In the Loop and physical verification are also an important part of the process at our department. This is a cross-functional role and you are also going to have regular contact with engineers from other technical areas, product development departments as well as suppliers. It is important that you have passion for technology, our products and customers, have good analytical skills with a mathematical approach and are structured and focused on methodologies.

Main responsibilities

• Responsible for developing new CAE methods for verification of safety systems
• Participate in supplier meetings/contacts and ensure the availability of prerequisites for virtual verification
• Develop set-ups for computer-based verification
• Take part in physical testing activities including gathering real-world data for validation of virtual methods
• Document and report results
• Participate in field expeditions and other test activities where the sensors system and functions are tested in different environments

Required qualifications

• M.Sc in Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering, Electronics or Physics
• Experienced in modelling of dynamical systems
• Skilled in Matlab and Simulink
• Experienced with model-based development and rapid prototyping
• Fluent in English (written and spoken)
• PhD in mathematics, mechatronics, electronics or physics is meritorious
• An asset would be years of experience within automotive
• Meritorious is programming languages such as C++, .Net and Java
• Knowledge in embedded systems and Autosar would be an asset
• Former experience from working within the areas; sensor development, radar antenna or image processing is meritorious

• Ability to independently develop, plan, conduct and follow up work towards objectives
• Strong communication skills as well as a positive mindset and a networking personality
