Volvo Car Group aims for leadership in Automated Driving and Active Safety. Self-driving vehicles is the next step in Volvo Car Group's development of the world's safest cars. The department "Active Safety" is responsible all the way from research and advanced engineering to implementation, verification and validation of current and future customer offers. We are strongly focused on our vision to make cars that do not crash.
The group Strategy & Concepts and Advanced Engineering consists of 20 persons. We lead and perform research and advanced engineering activities in the area of active safety, driver support and connectivity. Our ongoing projects include next generation active safety systems, highly automated driving technology, and connectivity solutions. About 1/3 of the group members have a Ph. D degree. There are both project-leading roles and roles for dedicated specialists and "doers" in order to create a creative mix of competencies that can deliver innovations and future concepts. We typically work in the timeframe 2 to 6 years before production, so be prepared to think ahead. Creating new solutions will require new thinking. The work environment is agile, challenging and dynamic.
We are looking for an Advanced Engineering Project Leader for research and advanced engineering assignments within connected safety. You will lead a team of developers and your aim is to deliver results in time, but also to encourage innovation and learning. Solutions typically consist of in-vehicle system and software, and a cloud backend functionality. The cloud backend may have interfaces to other clouds or information sources/sinks, so you need a broad set of knowledge to be successful as the tasks are both technical, administrative, leadership-related and sometimes also include public relations as well as negotiations with third parties. Additionally, you are responsible to drive and coordinate the advanced engineering/research portfolio across the department. This is a needs/means-based process that controls research and advanced engineering activities within the department.

Required qualifications
• Master of Science
• At least 5 years of experience within technical project management with a high level of technical challenge and innovation
• Driver's license B
• Leadership education is meritorious
• Experience as a PR spokesperson is an asset
• Knowledge in C-ITS and standards for C2C is meritorious
• Experience from product development at Volvo Car Group will also be meritorious
• Experience from cross-functional work with suppliers, OEMs, academia and authorities as well as experience from leading work with agile work methods will also be an asset
