The Machine Directorate at the European Spallation Source (ESS) in Lund, Sweden, invites applications for an Accelerator Installation Coordinator position in the Accelerator Division.

Description of directorate/division
The Accelerator Division is responsible for the design, construction, installation and commissioning of the ESS accelerator, in collaboration with partner institutions and other divisions of the ESS. Priority for the division is to get the accelerator to run reliably, and meeting or exceeding performance specifications, for the lifetime of the machine.

Description of main responsibilities
The Accelerator Installation Coordinator will report directly to the Accelerator Division- and Accelerator sub-project Leader who is responsible for assisting the ESS Project manager to deliver the ESS Construction Project according to its baseline.

The Accelerator Installation Coordinator has to:

• Continuously optimize the installation schedule of the accelerator sub-project in view of meeting the main project milestones, in close collaboration with Installation Coordinators from all sub-projects, the ESS Installation Coordinator and the ESS Project manager
• Prioritize the use of accelerator installation resources (people and equipment)
• Identify and solve problems during the daily installation activities
• Identify and implement effective solutions to safely perform installation across the facility
• Support Accelerator sub-project leader on ESS installation planning and execution

For these purposes, you have to:

• Organize and chair regular installation meetings with the accelerator installation team to ensure safety, understand priorities and need of central accelerator installation resources
• Participate in regular ESS installation meetings e.g. the Installation Support Coordination group
• Report status, progress, plans, and issues to the weekly accelerator management board and the Accelerator Technical Board (ATB)

Qualifications

• Bachelor in engineering or equivalent education in combination with relevant experience
• Education and work experience in project management
• Preferably you have at least 15 years of work experience from assignments involving installation of complex equipment in multidisciplinary industries/facilities with more than 5 years in leadership positions
• Experience from planning, coordinating and leading installation of large and complex systems/components
• Experience from technical work at a large accelerator facility/installation is an advantage
• Experience from working with organizational structures is an advantage, especially in an international environment
• Excellent oral and written English skills are a prerequisite; knowledge of other European language(s) would be an advantage

You have a strong ability to interact with multiple stakeholders with good communication skills. You identify issues and proactively work to solve them. You enjoy work and easily adapt yourself to a rapid changing environment. We expect you to deliver high quality under strong time pressure.

Duration & Location
The position is permanent with six months initial probationary period. Your work place will be situated in Lund, Sweden. The position is to be filled as soon as possible.
