We are no looking to hire an Academic Alliances Manager within Scientific Partnering & Alliances.

Scientific Partnering and Alliances (SP&A) is an integral part of Innovative Medicines and Early Development (IMED), partnering the Leadership Teams to identify, prioritise, evaluate and access external innovation. This will enable the team to execute timely, portfolio aligned decisions for Proof of Concept (PoC) deliverables. SP&A delivers results through proactive licensing, partnering strategy and focusing on high priority opportunities.

As you will be member of multinational, multifunctional teams, this position will contain the possibility of working with AstraZeneca colleagues and third parties anywhere in the world.

You will support major transactions relating to academic collaborations or lead smaller scale opportunities. You will also work closely with IMED clients to identify and evaluate research opportunities and ensure intra-team communications are effective.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
• Work closely with internal Respiratory, Inflammation and Autoimmunity IMED Biotech unit and other internal scientific teams to understand externalization strategy and business needs
• Support IMED by contributing and periodically leading the identification of the best research collaborations and technologies, aligned with business strategy
• Identify and build strong relationships with a range of academic institutions with regular interactions and discussions within the therapeutic areas.
• Manage the evaluation of potential collaboration opportunities.
• Advise client groups on the appropriate agreements to cover each external interaction
• Negotiate and gain signatures for agreements with external parties on behalf of client groups.
• Work with external partners to ensure that the company's requirements regarding IP ownership, legal matters and funding are met

Essential Requirements
• Have a degree in a relevant scientific discipline or alternatively significant relevant experience and knowledge of the scientific discipline from working in the life science sector,
• Postgraduate pharmaceutical industry experience and an understanding of how external alliances support drug discovery.
• Significant project management experience.
• Expert knowledge of the technology transfer process and international research funding systems.
• An understanding of internal drug discovery interfaces, therapeutic needs, therapies in specific disease areas.
• Awareness of the latest trends in deal structures and funding opportunities.
• Good working knowledge of all relevant company and national regulations, ensuring industry standards are applied.

Desirable Requirements
• Second degree in a relevant scientific, business or legal/IP training.
• Deal negotiation experience.
• Experience of working globally.
